Comments will be used to strategize the $630 million investment.
The Department of Energy (DOE) issued a Request for Information last week, asking for public feedback on how best to invest in hydropower facilities. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill allocated $630 million to improvements for hydropower facilities in the U.S., which currently creates 32% of the country’s renewable electricity generation and 6% of all electricity in the United States.
“Water is one of humankind’s oldest methods of generating energy, and with technological advancements, we can harness this renewable power as a core driver for the nation’s clean energy transition,” said Secretary Jennifer Granholm. Public comments can be submitted to the department until September 6.
